A Virtual Portfolio Review

What: This is your opportunity for you to get feedback on a project you are working on, a collection of work that you’ve gathered in hopes of publishing it, or a portfolio of your best work that you would just like general feedback on in order to get better with your photography or developing your voice.

Why: This is a chance for you to wade in and get your feet wet without the huge financial commitment or having to apply in order to be considered for participation. There are many reputable portfolio reviews around the PNW, the US and internationally. Think of this as practice for the bigger reviews or a mini review amongst the major ones to help dial in your portfolio before heading to the big times!

Extra Benefits: Learn how to see work and critique more effectively. Get feedback on your work, both what is strong and how it may be improved. Network! This is a way to make connections with people in the photography industry. We will have a variety of reviewers and you will get to put in for the top 4 you hope to be paired with. You are guaranteed to be placed with 1 of them

The Jurors: See below. More to be announced. The sooner you get your ticket the sooner you can request your top 4 reviewers! We will have reviewers in the fields of Fine Art, Music, Photojournalism, Commerical and more to come!

Time: 6:30 -8:30 pm

Tickets Required: Member’s get a free ticket to participate but still need to sign up. Become a member Members, get your tickets in the Club Room. All other Participants can purchase a ticket HERE at our store. Everyone who acquires a ticket will receive a detailed email with the Virtual Portfolio Review Link, the line up and who your reviewer will be. You will also get suggestions on how you can prep for the review.

Location: At your computer

The Process: You will be sharing your desktop screen when you are in a “breakout room” for your review. You are guaranteed 3 reviews but be prepared for 6 or more if time and participation amount permits.

Christopher Onstott

Christopher Onstott puts the CO in NASHCO Photo The CO, an award-winning photography & videography duo. Christopher specialize in lifestyle, portrait, and editorial imagery. He worked for 10 years as a staff photojournalist for a variety of newspapers, before moving on to a freelance career. He takes a moment-driven approach, capturing authentic imagery that is graphic, storytelling, full of color, light and intimacy.

Christopher is available for one-on-one instruction for those looking for lighting, portrait, and technical help.

Ray Bidegain

Ray Bidegain was born in Tucson, Arizona and started studying photography in high school. At age 17 he began working on weekends for a large studio that offered wedding photography to the Hispanic community in Southern Arizona. Ray graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in 1981 and returned to Tucson to operate his own studio before moving to Portland, Oregon. After 17 years as a studio portrait photographer, Ray turned to fine art photography, eventually teaching himself the art of platinum printing, photogravure and, later, wet plate collodion. Fascinated by both the science and the art of photography and printmaking, Ray is an engaging and respected photo instructor throughout the Pacific Northwest. Ray’s photographs are internationally collected, and his work has been exhibited across the United States, and in France, Germany, and Scotland.

Ray creates fine prints in platinum metals as well as workshops in Alt process for photographers

Teresa Meier

Teresa Meier is a Seattle-based multimedia artist that creates surrealist self-portrait photo montages. Her large-format narrative works incorporate themes of home, nature, and the interaction between humans and their environment that often leave the viewer suspended in moments of rising tension. Her fantastical subject matter and use of vibrant, luscious colors result in eye-catching and wonderfilled imagery. Ms. Meier is drawn to the genres of self-portraiture and surrealism for their cathartic ability to articulate the intangible and connect with people on an emotional level, generating feelings of wonder, curiosity, and hope. She believes art has the power to open hearts and expand minds, and she seeks out opportunities to inspire change and promote well-being with art. Ms. Meier holds a Masters in Fine Arts in photography and enjoys teaching with Light Box Laboratories, a photography-based art therapy program that she founded in 2013, dedicated to serving underprivileged and at-risk teens.

Ms. Meier was recently awarded both Director’s and Juror’s Award at PhotoPlace Gallery, honorable mentions at the PX3 Prix De La Photographie Paris, the Ringholz Art Supply Award, second place at the Szeklerland Photo Biennial, and Director’s honorable mention at the Center for Fine Art Photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally, recently appeared in Lensculture, Don’t Take Pictures, Pro Photo Daily, Communication Arts, and The Cooperative of Photography, and is currently represented at the Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery.

Teresa Meier is feature in Photo Club PDX’s ‘Picture, Picture’ event this coming November.

Rachel Wolf

Rachel Wolf specializes in camera-less photography, alternative/antique processes, and immersive environments through light-based installations. She loves to share her passion for light and photography as a professor and speaker. Rachel has exhibited across the United States including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Seattle, Portland, and in Europe. Recently her work was acquired into both Seattle, WA and Portland, OR public art collections, she was the Artist in Residence at Rose Villa in Milwaukee, OR, and completed a commission for Caldera Arts in Sisters, OR. Her belief in the power of art as a collective endeavour and its raising of community has propelled her efforts to work collaboratively and be a founding member of FO(u)RT Collective–an interdisciplinary art collective dedicated to collaboration and critical discourse. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Rachel earned her BA from Hampshire College and her MFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art. Rachel can be found in her darkroom in Portland, OR.

Susan Bein

Susan Bein began photographing as a teen because she couldn’t draw what she could see in her mind’s eye. She took classes from Ansel Adams, Minor White, Aaron Siskind and Paul Caponigro, using black and white film and large format cameras.After majoring in photography in college and teaching it she eventually became a graphic designer.When digital cameras came out their immediacy re-awakened her photographic muse, and when iPhones came out she fell in love with them as a creative tool. She teaches iPhone photography and Photoshop in Portland, OR.

Zeb Andrews

Zeb Andrews has lived his entire life in the Pacific Northwest, wandering its trails and photographing every opportunity he gets. His day job is at Blue Moon Camera and Machine, a pretty awesome camera shop if he does say so himself. Working at a camera store has led him down many adventurous paths in his photography and inspired him to try many different cameras and films over the years. While his work is as varied as his curiosity, he has carried around a Holga for over a decade and found numerous ways to put that simple plastic camera to good use. One series of images he has created with this camera he calls Holgaramas, and they involve using multiple shots across an entire (or more than an entire) roll of film, piecing the individual frames together like a puzzle to create images in ways he cannot do with single frames. Having added to this collection over several years, he has had time to refine both his technique in making them as well as his thoughts regarding his motivations behind these Holgaramas and what they have taught him about the process of photography.

Anthony Pidgeon

Veteran music photographer Anthony Pidgeon's images have appeared in nearly every major music publication over the last 25 years. He worked as a House Photographer for Bill Graham Presents / LiveNation in San Francisco for nearly a decade, and currently shoots for a variety of agencies, promoters, festivals and publications from his current home base of Portland, Oregon.
